The Sutherland Entertainment Centre was adversely affected by:
· Water penetration
· Concrete spalling
Both of these condition were undermining the buildings amenity
and the safety of its patrons.
The engineer nominated pressure injection technology as the primary waterproofing measure. The reason for this approach was because not only did the injection of the expanding urethane provide a flexible compression seal within the crack where the water was egressing but encapsulated and protected the steel reinforcement from air thereby mitigating the corrosion reaction.
